Top Rangers Goalies Train at K-Park
20-Jul-2012Rangers Legends Allan McGregor and Andy Goram Kick Off Their Pre-Season Training at the East Kilbride Facility
Two of Rangers' best-known goalkeepers, Allan McGregor and Andy Goram, kicked off their pre-season training at K-Park Training Academy in East Kilbride on 18th July. Kids who were attending K-Park Training Academy's Summer Soccer School were delighted to see the two heroes at their local football facility - and the two goalies were more than happy to share the 3G pitch with the kids.
The 3G park proved to be a perfect training ground for the goalies and the kids alike, due to the typical Scottish weather - which would have prevented them from training should they have chosen a grass surface.
Andy Goram, who regularly uses K-Park for his training sessions, said: "East Kilbride Community Trust was kind enough to let myself and Allan McGregor use K-Park Training Academy and with the weather we've had, the excellent 3G pitch was perfect. I'm no stranger to the place due to my links with the local community and the boys thoroughly enjoyed the two days we had there. For me, it was terrific just to be back training. I feel I have a lot to offer keepers as a coach now."
Allan McGregor, who was a first-time visitor to K-Park, said: "I needed the sessions and it was great to get a couple of sessions under my belt with The Goalie, who has always looked out for me. I'd heard all about K-Park from my old Rangers pals, Bob Malcolm and Charlie Miller. It's a great facility and places like this are what we need in Scotland to develop the kids coming through."
