Senior football brings Sky Sports News to K-Park.
11-Jul-2012 SENIOR Football came to East Kilbride on Saturday as Clyde took on Queen of the South in a pre-season friendly at K-Park.An entertaining and surprisingly competitive match saw Queens win 3-1 in manager Allan Johnston’s first match in charge.
With just three weeks to go until their respective campaigns begin, fitness and match-sharpness is key and both sides made full use of their squads, particularly the Doonhamers who replaced their entire starting XI at half time.
Post-match, both managers expressed their admiration for the K-Park setup.
Clyde’s Jim Duffy said: “They are absolutely fantastic and suit us right down to the ground. The pitch is great and the people have been fantastic to us.
Allan Johnston commented: “It’s a top facility and probably been much needed in this area for a long time. We used it last year as well and you can see how busy it is.”
In a busy weekend for K-Park, a number of local businesses battled it out for a place in Friday’s
Work’s Cup Final.
South Lanarkshire Council defeated DPT 7-2 on Saturday morning, before Stuart Nicol Transport beat Re-Tek 6-3.
In the afternoon, Zucca’s, with the aid of professionals Robbie and David Winters crushed the Post Office 8-1.
