Funding for the Stand at K-Park Training Academy

15-Jun-2012

We are pleased to announce that Patterson Quarries Ltd have awarded the East Kilbride Community Trust the fantastic sum of £122,500.00 to enable us to build a 400 seater covered stand at K-Park Training Academy within the Calderglen Country Park.  The building work for this phase started three weeks ago.

This will make a big difference to the communtity as the average weekly footfall of people to the facility is 3000 per week and growing.  During football games especially at the weekend we want to make sure the community come's out to support the local teams, building up the ethos of the community coming together. This will be a positive improvement to the facility and will benefit the community as a whole.  Trustee James Kean said "It will be a more pleasant experience for the spectators, as now they will have a place to sit when they come to watch the games!"

Our first sporting facilities at K-Park Training Academy www.kparktrainingacademy.co.uk at Country Park were first opened to the public in May 2011.  This facility currently hosts a seven-a-side pitch (which splits into two 5-a-side parks) as well as a full size eleven-a-side 3G pitch with brock underlay and a fully kitted out changing pavilion compromising of 4 dressing rooms (fitted out to SportScotlands regulations), separate toilets, referees room and conference room etc.

This facility is open to all. It has a real community feel about it. Without community engagement there is often urban decay. By providing this centre of excellence for football we are helping to decrease the urban decay.
